Library cards are free and available at the circulation desk. They can be used at any library within the Old Colony Library Network (OCLN).
How it Works
Persons wishing to obtain a library card need to come to the library with a picture ID. If the picture ID does not have a current address they will also need to provide something that proves current residence such as a bill, checks, auto registration, etc. Individuals residing in an Old Colony Library Network member town may apply for a library card in any library within the network, regardless of residency in that particular community. Library users will be offered the choice of returning to their ‘home’ library to apply for a card which may entitle them to more privileges such as museum passes or data bases.
Children 12 and older may be issued a library card using a parent/guardian’s ID. Children who are 5 or older and can write their first and last names may get their own library card when accompanied by a parent or guardian. Children younger than 5 should use their parent/guardian’s card.
An eCard can also be issued by visiting the OCLN catalog’s registration page. This card may only be used for borrowing eContent. It can be updated at any OCLN library. Patrons with an OCLN eCard may visit any member public library to have their card made permanent by converting it to a physical library card with an updated user profile. The eCard must be made permanent before patrons can borrow any physical materials.
