About the Friends
The Friends of the Whitman Public Library is a passionate volunteer organization dedicated to promoting, advocating for, and supporting the Library’s mission. By organizing book sales, special programs, and events, the Friends raise vital funds that enhance the Library's offerings. These contributions help provide children’s and adult programs, museum passes, and special equipment and materials beyond the scope of regular Town funding.
Volunteers play an essential role in ensuring the success of the organization. Opportunities include assisting with publicity, sorting books, managing book sales, creating newsletters, participating in bake sales, and representing the Friends at community events. The group collaborates closely with the Library Director and staff to better serve the community.
Membership is open to anyone who shares the Friends’ mission and values. Donations are warmly welcomed and may be made in memory of a loved one or in celebration of a special occasion. Contributions will be acknowledged in the Friends’ newsletter and can be dropped off at the Library or mailed to:

Become a Member of the Friends of the Library
You can join the Friends today by filling out a membership form and dropping it off at the library or mailing it to Friends of the Whitman Public Library, Attn: Lorna Holbrook, 100 Webster St. Whitman, MA 02382. Membership rates are as low as $5 a year!

FAQs

We support the summer reading program, children’s programs, speakers, authors, arts and crafts for all ages, movies, games, exercise programs, etc.

You can! Fill out the online Registration Form. You will receive copies of our newsletter and be eligible for our preview sales and discounts.

You can be as involved as you able by becoming a member, attending meetings or volunteering for our activities, which may include spending an hour or two at a fundraiser, assistance with our membership drive, etc. We are open to any and all volunteer assistance.

The Friends meet in the library Community Room at 3:30 on the second Wednesday of the month, except for July and August. Changes to the Friends meeting calendar will be reflected on the Library Event calendar.
You don’t need to be a member to attend the Friends meeting. Everyone is welcome to visit.
