About the Commission
The Conservation Commission is an appointed board by the Selectmen and is the local agency specifically charged with the management and protection of Whitman’s wetland resources. The Commission’s major duty is to interpret, administer and enforce the regulations of the Wetland Protection Act as they apply within the area of Whitman. All meetings are open to the public, and townspeople are invited to attend and to bring to the attention of the Commission members any questions or information relating to environmental affairs.
The Conservation Commission manages Hobart's Pond off of Essex Street and Harding's Pond off of Pine Street along with other Conservation land throughout the Town of Whitman.
